Brazil business trends show rental growth amid infrastructure caution

The Brazilian economic landscape shows a mix of sector-specific growth and rising caution. In the rental market, the equipment rental sector has consolidated into a R$ 49.4 billion industry, with projections reaching R$ 56.7 billion by 2027. Companies like Unidas reported a 12.3% increase in first-half revenue, driven by car rentals, while IT equipment lessor DJ Locação announced a R$ 100 million investment to expand operations following a 100% revenue increase. Additionally, fintech Yuno secured US$ 45 million in Series B funding to expand its AI-driven payment infrastructure.

However, broader economic indicators suggest growing uncertainty. The Abdib Infrastructure Barometer shows that optimism regarding new infrastructure investments has dropped from 54.2% to 37.8%, influenced by geopolitical conflicts, high interest rates, and upcoming elections. Similarly, the industrial sector faces a complex 2027, with projected CAPEX of R$ 757 billion but increasing concerns over credit costs and economic deceleration. In the agricultural sector, distributors are navigating restricted credit and the effects of El Niño, while the real estate market faces supply constraints due to rising construction costs and high interest rates.
