Brazil expands AI education and debates AI's impact on jobs and energy

The Indaiatuba municipality’s Fundação Indaiatuba de Educação e Cultura (FIEC) opened registrations for two artificial‑intelligence courses in June 2026. "IA para a Sala de Aula" will teach educators how to integrate AI tools in teaching, while the "Vibe Code Experience" workshop will guide entrepreneurs in creating digital projects using no‑code AI platforms. Each course costs R$ 100 and offers a certificate.

Futurist Michelle Schneider told a Brazilian audience in Salvador that there is no consensus on how AI will reshape the labour market. She warned that predictions range from massive job loss to new opportunities, and highlighted the uncertainty surrounding artificial‑general intelligence, noting that experts such as Elon Musk and Demis Hassabis give divergent timelines.

Former tech executive Matt Velloso warned that Brazil’s energy infrastructure – less than 1 GW available for data‑centers compared with about 55 GW in the United States – could hinder the nation’s AI development. He called for an aggressive national energy plan, cited the emerging AI regulatory framework, and stressed the need for rapid policy action to keep Brazil competitive in the global AI race.
