Brazil expands autism support through new facility and digital platform

In Brazil, new initiatives are expanding support for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodivergencies. In Marechal Cândido Rondon, the municipal government is finalizing the establishment of the 'Casa do Autista'. This facility, located in a repurposed office space, will provide multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary care for children and adolescents. The service will integrate the municipal secretariats of Health, Social Assistance, and Education to offer individualized care through a Singular Therapeutic Project (PTS), focusing on communication, social interaction, and autonomy.

Simultaneously, the Neuve platform has launched as a digital hub to connect families, professionals, and scientific knowledge. The platform aims to provide reliable information and practical guidance to help families navigate the challenges following a diagnosis. This development comes amid rising awareness and diagnostic rates; while the World Health Organization estimates 70 million autistic people globally, the 2022 IBGE Census identified 2.4 million diagnosed individuals in Brazil.
