Brazil's Bolsa Família expands payments and launches new Android app

In June 2026, mothers receiving Bolsa Família can obtain payments larger than the basic R$600 per family. The program adds up to R$150 for each child aged 0‑6 (First Childhood benefit), R$50 for pregnant women and for children and adolescents 7‑17 (Variable Family benefit), and R$50 for infants up to seven months (Variable Nutri benefit). Eligibility requires per‑capita household income not exceeding R$218 and compliance with health and education conditions such as school attendance, vaccination records and prenatal care.

In May 2026 the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance together with Caixa Econômica Federal released a major update to the Bolsa Família Android application. The new version offers a simplified interface, improved color palette, screen‑reader compatibility and faster access to registration and payment information. Security is reinforced so that only the registered family head can view personal data, reducing the need to visit physical service points.
