Brazil expands consumer protection office and launches human‑trafficking reporting channels

In the Federal District, authorities have publicized several channels for reporting and seeking assistance on human‑trafficking cases, including a dedicated email address, a phone line (61) 2244‑1232, the national Disque 100 hotline, and the 180 women's assistance line. The service aims to help victims, gather information for investigations and route cases to the appropriate agencies.

In Florianópolis, the municipal consumer protection agency (Procon) has opened a new headquarters in the city centre, increasing its capacity from one to four conciliatory rooms and more than doubling monthly consumer visits from around 600 to about 1,300. The expanded facility also hosts service desks for the local electricity provider Celesc and several telecom companies, allowing citizens to resolve multiple issues in one location.
