Brazil Expands Continuous Glucose Monitoring for Children in Mariana

The municipality of Mariana held a registration drive on Saturday, 8 May, for its Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) program. Parents of children aged 2‑12 with Type 1 diabetes could enroll between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the PREVINE health center, submit required documents and receive a sensor that measures glucose levels continuously, reducing the need for finger‑stick tests.

At the national level, a public consultation on the distribution of CGM sensors through Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS) has attracted thousands of participants. The consultation highlights the broader health impacts of diabetes, including oral complications, and seeks input on how best to allocate the sensors to improve disease management across the country.
