Brazil expands credit access for gig‑economy drivers through Caixa and Uber‑Banco do Brasil programs
Caixa Econômica Federal announced that earnings from ride‑hailing and delivery platforms such as Uber, 99, iFood and Rappi can now be used as formal income when applying for mortgage loans. Applicants must provide platform statements showing at least four consecutive months of receipts, allowing many autonomous gig workers to meet the bank's credit‑worthiness criteria.
Separately, Uber and Banco do Brasil introduced a cashback incentive tied to the Move Brasil vehicle‑financing scheme. Drivers who finance a new car, keep installments current and complete an average of 240 trips per month become eligible for a refund equivalent to up to 3.5 installments, paid progressively over the financing term.
