Brazil expands digital vehicle licensing; August deadline set for Mato Grosso do Sul plates

In São Paulo, vehicle owners can now complete the annual licensing process entirely online through the Poupatempo portal, mobile app, or self‑service kiosks. The digital CRLV‑e certificate is issued after confirming that all IPVA, traffic fines and licensing fees are paid, and it can be downloaded via the Carteira Digital de Trânsito app or printed on regular paper.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, the deadline for the annual licensing of vehicles with plates ending in 7 and 8 is August 31. Payments must be made through the Meu Detran portal using BBPay, and the same debt‑clearance rules apply. Failure to license on time results in a R$293.47 fine, seven points on the driver’s license, and possible vehicle removal. Subsequent deadlines for plates ending in 9, 0, and other numbers follow in September and October.
