Brazil expands free technology training with AI and Java programs
Several technology education initiatives in Brazil are offering free training in artificial intelligence and programming.
Itaú Unibanco, in partnership with the technology platform DIO, has opened 15,000 scholarships for a Java and AI bootcamp. The 45-hour program covers machine learning, large language models (LLMs), and generative AI, alongside Java fundamentals and the Spring ecosystem. The curriculum includes live mentorship and practical projects, such as building an API capable of speech recognition. Applications are open until October 11.
Additionally, Kodie Academy—an institution formed by the merger of projects from the Maré and Rocinha communities—is offering 600 free spots for an AI course for developers. Sponsored by Empower, the program is designed for individuals with a family income of up to three minimum wages who already possess programming experience in languages like Python or JavaScript. The online course focuses on using AI assistants for coding, automation, and creating agents, with classes scheduled to run from October 2026 through February 2027.
