Brazil expands mobile health checks for drivers and enforces right‑of‑way for emergency vehicles
The municipal health department of Balneário Camboriú joined Ipiranga’s mobile "Saúde na Estrada" project at the Irmão da Estrada fuel station. Twelve municipal health professionals provided blood‑pressure, glucose, vaccine, vision and other basic health services to roughly 50 drivers, marking the municipality’s first participation in the two‑storey, 110 m² health‑check trailer that travels Brazil’s highways.
In Paraná, the Corpo de Bombeiros Militar do Paraná reminded motorists that the Brazilian Traffic Code obliges drivers to yield to emergency vehicles. Failure to open a passage for ambulances or fire‑truck crews is a gravíssima infraction, punishable by a R$293.47 fine and seven points on the driver’s licence. The agency stresses that quicker passage can save lives in accidents, fires and other emergencies.
