Brazil expands public diagnostic centers in Niterói and São Paulo

The Supercentro de Exames in Piratininga, Niterói, entered its final construction phase and is projected to handle more than 7,000 exams each month. The facility will house CT, MRI, ultrasound, colonoscopy, echocardiogram, an eye clinic and a range of specialist consultations. Mayor Rodrigo Neves highlighted the centre’s potential to centralise services for municipal health users, though an exact opening date has not been set.

In São Paulo, the two Centros de Exames da Mulher (CEM) – located in Itaquera and Capela do Socorro – have collectively performed 173,640 examinations since 2024. The centres, which operate on Saturdays and accept referrals from basic health units, offer mammography, breast and transvaginal ultrasounds, and other medium‑complexity tests. Secretary Sandra Sabino noted that consolidating services reduces patient travel, shortens waiting times and improves early detection of breast and cervical cancers.
