Brazil expands sensory support for neurodivergent visitors at fairs and museums

The Exposentidos project at ExpoCrato 2026 in Cariri, Ceará, provides a climate‑controlled sensory space for children, adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum. Hosted by UNINASSAU, the area offers multidisciplinary assistance from nursing, physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology and occupational therapy staff, aiming to reduce overload from noise, lights and crowds.

In Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, the municipal culture secretariat now loans free sensory backpacks at five cultural venues, including the Oscar Niemeyer Theatre and the Contemporary Art Museum. Each kit contains ear protectors, stress balls, light‑emitting bracelets and sunglasses to help autistic and other neurodivergent visitors manage auditory and visual stimuli. The initiative seeks to make cultural experiences more comfortable and inclusive across the city.
