Brazil expects $1.746 billion impact from 2027 Women's World Cup

Brazil anticipates an economic impact of approximately $1.746 billion from hosting the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, scheduled from June 24 to July 25. According to a study by FGV Projetos for Embratur, the tournament is expected to contribute roughly $754 million to the national GDP and generate $893 million in wages and profits.

The event is projected to support 73,700 direct and indirect jobs during its preparation and execution phases. This economic boost is nearly double the total generated by the ten most significant recurring sporting events held in Brazil during 2025.

Brazil's Vice Minister of Tourism, Fernanda Norat, stated that the goal is to transform venues, gastronomic corridors, and cultural routes into permanent destinations. The tournament will be hosted across eight cities: Brasilia, Porto Alegre, Recife, and Salvador will host matches up to the round of 16; Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo will host from the quarterfinals onward; and the final will take place at the Maracanã Stadium.
