Brazil extends ICMS tax debt payment deadline to Monday
The government has exceptionally extended the deadline for paying ICMS (Imposto sobre Circulação de Mercadorias e Serviços) debts, originally due on Thursday (27), to this Monday (31). This extension includes pending issues linked to Launch Notifications.
The decision was formalized via an ordinance published in an extra edition of the State Official Gazette. The Adjunct Secretariat of Revenue stated that the extension follows technical inconsistencies recorded in the Tax Administration System (Siat), which hindered the analysis of correction requests submitted by taxpayers.
The ordinance specifies that this calendar change does not grant the right to restitution or compensation for amounts already paid. Additionally, it prohibits the recovery of funds deposited in court in cases where there are final judicial decisions in favor of the State.
