Brazil government mediates tension between Federal Police and Supreme Court
The Brazilian government is attempting to mediate a growing institutional conflict between Federal Police Director-General Andrei Rodrigues and Supreme Court Minister André Mendonça. The tension stems from investigations involving Fábio Luís da Silva, known as Lulinha, and cases related to the INSS and Banco Master.
Minister Mendonça, the rapporteur for these cases, has issued orders that the Federal Police views as interference with its autonomy, including demands for raw investigative data and prior notification regarding changes in investigative teams. In response, the Federal Police previously sought the Attorney General's Office to challenge these determinations.
