Brazil families see spending surge after school holidays, fintech study shows
A SuperSim fintech survey found that the end of school holidays triggers a sharp rise in household expenses for Brazilian families. About 80% of respondents reported higher spending, especially on food and leisure, with eight in ten seeing increased outlays and roughly 30% experiencing a budget jump of more than 500 reais. The impact is most pronounced among lower‑income classes C and D.
SuperSim’s marketing director Gabriel Coutinho advised that responsible credit can help bridge the short‑term cash gap, emphasizing that loans should be used as a temporary tool with affordable installments and a clear repayment plan, rather than as a permanent income supplement. He also urged families to review holiday spending, prioritize essential costs, and avoid revolving credit card debt.
