Brazil Federal Court Suspends OAB's Orders Against Rondônia Nursing Council

A federal judge in Rondônia granted an injunction suspending the directives issued by the Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil in Rondônia (OAB‑RO) toward the Conselho Regional de Enfermagem de Rondônia (Coren‑RO). The OAB‑RO had ordered the nursing council to open a disciplinary proceeding, impose a mandatory course on advocacy prerogatives and threatened disciplinary action against the council’s president for non‑compliance. Judge Guilherme Gomes da Silva ruled that the OAB‑RO lacks legal authority to impose such obligations on another public autarchy, emphasizing the need to respect institutional autonomy and due‑process guarantees. The suspension applies only to the OAB‑RO measures directed at Coren‑RO while the underlying case proceeds.
