Brazil Federal Justice releases R$ 3.31 billion for court-ordered debts

The Federal Justice Council (CJF) has released R$ 3.31 billion to settle debts recognized in lawsuits against the Brazilian federal government. Approximately R$ 2.75 billion of this total—representing 83% of the released funds—is dedicated to actions involving the National Social Security Institute (INSS) and social assistance benefits.

These funds cover discrepancies in pensions, retirement pay, and disability benefits that were either unpaid or underpaid. The payments are distributed via Small Value Requisitions (RPVs) and are transferred from the CJF to Regional Federal Courts, which then facilitate payments to beneficiaries through judicial accounts at Banco do Brasil or Caixa Econômica Federal.

In the TRF-5 region, which covers states including Pernambuco, Ceará, Alagoas, Sergipe, Rio Grande do Norte, and Paraíba, R$ 538.2 million has been allocated. This specific portion includes R$ 460 million for INSS and social assistance claims, covering 22,144 processes and 37,023 beneficiaries.
