Federal Police extend investigation into 'Dark Horse' film financing

The Brazilian Federal Police have requested a 90-day extension for an investigation into the financing of 'Dark Horse', a biopic about former President Jair Bolsonaro. The probe focuses on payments made by former banker Daniel Vorcaro and involves Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, who is under investigation for his role in soliciting funds for the production.

Investigators are examining significant financial discrepancies, noting that while over US$ 12 million was reportedly sent to the United States via the Havengate Development Fund, only US$ 2.8 million was recorded as entering Brazil. The Federal Police are also reviewing documents provided by whistleblower Antônio Carlos Freixo Júnior, who has provided testimony that contains contradictions regarding the nature of these international transfers.

The investigation is currently awaiting international cooperation from the United States to obtain financial records of foreign entities involved in the transactions. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that the funds involved were private in nature.
