Brazil federal revenue reaches record R$ 239.4 billion in September
Brazil's federal revenue reached R$ 239.4 billion in September, marking a 5.62% real increase compared to the same month last year when adjusted for inflation. This figure represents the highest level ever recorded for the month of September in the historical series maintained by the Federal Revenue Service since 1995.
From January to September, total revenue reached R$ 2.351 trillion, a real growth of 6.97% over the same period in the previous year. Key drivers for this increase included higher collections from social security contributions, PIS/Cofins, income tax withheld at the source (IRRF) on capital income, and corporate income taxes (IRPJ and CSLL). Additionally, export taxes on crude oil contributed to the total.
The growth was supported by positive economic activity, changes in taxation policies—such as new taxes on high-income funds and offshore assets—and increased oil prices driven by geopolitical tensions. Social security revenue specifically rose by 6.18% in real terms, reflecting increases in the wage mass and the progressive re-taxation of payroll contributions.
