Brazil federal revenue exceeds R$ 2 trillion in first eight months of 2026
Brazil's federal revenue reached R$ 2.019 trillion from January to August 2026, marking a 7.12% real growth compared to the same period in 2025, according to data from the Receita Federal.
In August 2026 alone, revenue totaled R$ 235.5 billion, a record high for the month and a real increase of 8.25% over August 2025. Key drivers included social security contributions, PIS/Cofins, and increases in corporate income taxes (IRPJ and CSLL).
A significant non-recurring factor was the R$ 1.9 billion collected from the export tax on crude oil, a measure implemented to offset revenue losses related to fuel subsidies amid Middle East tensions. This tax contributed R$ 9.9 billion to the total for the first eight months of the year.
