Dilma Rousseff to receive monthly compensation for military dictatorship persecution

The Brazilian Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship has established a monthly compensation of R$ 17,562.80 for former President Dilma Rousseff. This decision, published in the Official Gazette, follows a ruling by the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF-1) recognizing her as a political amnesty recipient.

The compensation serves as reparation for the political persecution, imprisonment, and torture she endured during the military dictatorship. The monthly amount is based on the average salary of the position she held at the Foundation of Economy and Statistics (FEE) in Rio Grande do Sul before being dismissed in 1977.

In addition to the permanent monthly payment, the government has calculated retroactive amounts totaling approximately R$ 6,616,492.19, dating back to October 21, 1997. This total is subject to deductions for any amounts previously paid by the State.
