Brazil football faces separate racial injury allegations

Two separate incidents of alleged racism have been reported within Brazilian football.

In the Campeonato Brasileiro, police have identified a resident of Matinhos, Paraná, as the individual responsible for posting racist comments against Athletico Paranaense striker Kevin Viveros. The insults, which included monkey emojis, were directed at Viveros on social media following a match against Coritiba. The Mobile Police Station for Football and Events (Demafe) stated they will formalize the occurrence and forward it to the Public Ministry.

In the Paulista Sub-17 Championship, Clube Atlético Votuporanguense (CAV) issued a statement following allegations of racial injury during a match against ECUS. While referees reported they did not witness the offense during the game, ECUS later identified a member of the CAV communication staff as the alleged perpetrator. ECUS intends to file a police report regarding the incident, while CAV has expressed its repudiation of all forms of racism and discrimination.
