Brazil franchise market surpasses R$300 billion as growth accelerates

The Brazilian franchising sector recorded revenue of R$301.7 billion in 2025, marking the first time the market exceeded the R$300 billion threshold and showing a 10.5% nominal increase over the previous year. The industry now comprises 3,297 active franchise networks operating more than 202,000 units nationwide.

In the state of Pernambuco, franchise sales reached R$2 billion in the first quarter of 2026, a 13% rise compared with the same period in 2025. The region hosts 5,745 franchised units and generated 49,739 direct jobs. Health, beauty and well‑being franchises led with R$625.9 million in revenue, up 27.2% year‑on‑year, followed by the Food Service segment, which posted R$296 million and grew 10.2%.

Industry experts emphasize the importance of careful due diligence. Maurício Galhardo, financial‑management specialist at F360, advises prospective franchisees to evaluate personal fit, market segment dynamics and to build a robust financial plan, warning that “many entrepreneurs get enchanted by the façade and overlook deeper business fundamentals.” José Carlos de Almeida of Central Sicredi Nordeste highlights franchising as a pathway to predictable operations, brand support, and regional economic development, noting the model’s role in expanding opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
