Brazil fruit exports rise 20.4% in first half of 2026

Brazilian fruit exports transported in containers grew by 20.4% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year, according to data from Datamar. A total of 36,552 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) were shipped between January and June.

When including shipments on conventional refrigerated vessels (reefers), Brazil exported 498,900 tons of fruit in the first half of the year, representing a 29.2% increase over the first six months of 2025. Datamar CEO Andrew Lorimer noted that 2026 is on track to be another record year for Brazilian fruit exports, particularly as a significant portion of shipments occurs in the second half of the year.

Melons and watermelons led the containerized fruit category with 9,825 TEUs. They were followed by mangoes with 9,399 TEUs, and lemons and limes with 8,849 TEUs. The Netherlands emerged as a major destination, receiving 20,321 TEUs, which accounts for 55.6% of the total containerized fruit volume.
