Brazil government warns of fake news regarding social programs

The Brazilian federal government, through the Presidency's Social Communication Secretariat (Secom), has issued an alert regarding false information circulating on social media. The misinformation concerns the end of the 6x1 work schedule and the status of social welfare programs.

Regarding labor rights, the government clarified that Constitutional Amendment No. 141, which establishes a two-day weekly rest period without salary reduction, has not been altered following the elections. Secom stated that there are no proposals to remove rights or exclude specific worker categories, noting that the Executive branch cannot veto or modify an amendment promulgated by Congress.

Additionally, the government denied rumors of cuts to the Bolsa Família and Gás do Povo programs. Officials confirmed that Bolsa Família payments remain uninterrupted and that the Gás do Povo program continues to provide free 13kg gas cylinder refills, with budgets secured for 2026 and planned for 2027.
