Brazil greenlights major transmission and highway concession auctions
Engie Brazil Energy president Eduardo Sattamini said the company will take part in the electricity transmission concession auction scheduled for October, which will cover projects in seven states with an estimated investment of about R$ 8.9 billion. He also noted interest in the battery‑storage auction set for December, highlighting Engie's role as one of the largest battery operators worldwide, with projects in the United States and Chile.
The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) has approved the tender for the remodelled concession of the BR‑163 corridor between Mato Grosso and Pará, together with a segment of BR‑230. The auction, to be held on 12 November at B3 in São Paulo, targets roughly R$ 10.6 billion in investments for road capacity expansion, pavement rehabilitation, safety upgrades and infrastructure modernization. The revision follows the delay of the Ferrogrão railway, which has increased heavy‑truck traffic on the route by 44 % above forecasts, prompting a longer‑term concession horizon of up to 20 years.
