Various health institutions across Brazil are launching mobilization campaigns to replenish blood and platelet stocks, which have reached critical levels in several regions.

In Minas Gerais, Hemominas reported that blood types O−, O+, and A+ are at critical levels. In Bahia, Hemoba has also declared stocks to be at a critical level, urging the population to visit collection units like the one in Jequié to ensure hospital supplies.

Other regional efforts include Hemoal conducting external collections in Coruripe, Alagoas, and the Hemonúcleo de Apucarana issuing an urgent alert for the Vale do Ivaí region ahead of the Independence Day holiday. In Paraíba, Grau Técnico João Pessoa is partnering with the local Hemocentro for a campaign on September 19, while Santa Bárbara d’Oeste continues its long-standing partnership with the Unicamp Hemocentro to host donation drives.

Health authorities emphasize that blood supplies are vital for surgeries, oncology treatments, and emergency care. Donors are generally required to be between 16 and 69 years old, weigh at least 50kg, and be in good health, with specific restrictions regarding recent tattoos, piercings, or illnesses.
