Brazil health initiatives promote organ and blood donation

Various health awareness initiatives are taking place in Brazil throughout September. In Petrópolis, the Santo Tomás de Aquino Parish will hold a mass on September 27 to mark National Organ and Tissue Donation Day. Presided over by Father Carlos Caridade, a transplant recipient, the event aims to honor donors and their families while encouraging the public to communicate their donation wishes to relatives, as family authorization is required for donation in Brazil.

Additionally, the Amor aos Rins Association is supporting the first edition of the ‘Caminhando e Pedalando pela Vida’ event on September 27 at Parque do Peão. This initiative, involving the Hospital de Amor and Associação Os Independentes, focuses on blood donation to address national shortages. The event is part of a broader mobilization to increase blood bank supplies.
