Brazil health sector workforce management highlighted at Saúde Business Forum 2026
The Saúde Business Forum 2026 is scheduled for August in Costa do Sauípe, Bahia, Brazil. The event will bring together presidents and directors of hospitals, health operators and laboratories to focus on workforce management amid a national shortage of qualified staff.
SISQUAL® WFM, a specialist in Workforce Management solutions, will participate. The company has operated in Brazil for 15 years and provides services to more than 750 hospitals. Organisers emphasise automation of shift schedules, control of working hours and data analysis as ways to reduce reliance on manual processes that increase costs and staff overload.
According to the World Health Organization’s State of the World’s Nursing 2025 report, the global nursing deficit could reach 4.1 million vacancies by 2030, especially in the world’s poorest regions. A Brazilian study in the Revista Brasileira de Medicina do Trabalho reported a rise in burnout prevalence between 2014 and 2024, with larger impacts in major cities. José Pedro Fernandes, Executive Vice President of SISQUAL® WFM, warned that health institutions must balance quality of care with pressures from staff shortages, rising service demand, complex labor legislation and high levels of burnout and absenteeism. He argued that balanced, automated scheduling is essential to meet operational needs while protecting employee well‑being.
