Tarabai driver arrested after striking five youths while intoxicated
A 33-year-old driver was arrested in Tarabai, São Paulo, after a serious accident involving five children and adolescents. The driver, who was visibly intoxicated, struck the victims while they were walking on a public road.
Following the collision, the driver fled the scene without providing assistance. However, witnesses pursued the vehicle, leading to the driver's apprehension by the Military Police. A clinical examination at the Medical Legal Institute confirmed the presence of alcohol in his system.
The victims sustained serious injuries and were transported to the Regional Hospital of Presidente Prudente. The Civil Police have opened an investigation into the incident, and the driver faces charges including culpable bodily injury while driving under the influence, failure to render aid, and fleeing the scene of an accident.
