Brazilian municipalities hold elderly support events in Teresina and Sinop
In Teresina, the State Secretariat for Development and Social Assistance (Sasc) organized a round‑table discussion for seniors assisted by the Legião da Boa Vontade as part of the national June Violet campaign against elder violence. Technicians Justino Ivo and Lisânia Carvalho explained the reporting avenues available, including the Elderly Protection Police station, municipal councils, Disque 100 and the state public prosecutor.
In Sinop, the municipal Social Assistance Department runs a bi‑weekly gathering at the CRAS Paulista for residents of the Lar Vicentino nursing home. Participants engage in music therapy, cognitive exercises, mobility and breathing activities, and receive information on respect and protection of older people, also linked to the June Violet campaign. Coordinator Andrea Pires highlighted the social and emotional benefits, while participant Nilson Martins described the program as vital for his recovery and renewed quality of life.
