Brazil holds public hearings on Congonhas airport schedule change and Araucária housing development

A public hearing organized by São Paulo state deputies Marcolino and Jilmar Tatto, together with eight local civil‑society groups, will be held on 16 July at the state legislature to discuss a proposal to extend the operating hours of Congonhas Airport beyond the current 06:00‑23:00 schedule. Participants will address concerns about increased noise, traffic congestion and the impact on residents’ quality of life, and a representative of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) is expected to attend.

On 17 July, the municipality of Araucária will convene a public hearing at City Hall to present the Neighborhood Impact Study for the Terracota residential project, which plans 224 housing units across four seven‑storey blocks with associated amenities. The meeting will examine land‑use, urban infrastructure, mobility, and socio‑economic effects, and will be open to residents both in person and via a live stream, with an electronic questionnaire for additional input.
