Brazil honors teachers with local ceremonies and arena tours
Various events and recognitions are scheduled in Brazil to honor teachers. In Marabá, the Municipal Chamber will hold a solemn session on October 13 at the Tiago Koch Plenary to recognize the importance of educators in social development and to highlight professional challenges such as working conditions and the need for public education investment.
Additionally, a special guided tour is planned for October 25, 2026, at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu to celebrate Teacher's Month. The 75-minute experience includes access to the press room, locker rooms, the field, and the benches. Participants in the VIP pass may also have the opportunity to take a penalty kick. Interested individuals must register by October 22, 2026, for a chance to win tickets via a drawing.
Historically, Teacher's Day in Brazil traces back to a decree signed by Dom Pedro I in 1827 regarding elementary education. The national celebration was later popularized in 1947 by educator Salomão Becker and officially established as a school holiday by Federal Decree No. 52.682 in 1963.
