Brazil hospitality sector announces new restaurant expansions
The Brazilian hospitality and gastronomy sectors are seeing significant developments with new high-end openings. In Rio de Janeiro, the Copacabana Palace, a Belmond Hotel, has announced the upcoming launch of Lumio. Scheduled to open in November 2026, the restaurant is led by Chef Nello Cassese, who previously earned a Michelin star at the hotel. Lumio will offer a contemporary Italian tasting menu that blends Mediterranean sensibilities with Brazilian ingredients.
In Rio Grande do Sul, the Manda Brasa Group is expanding its footprint with the new 20Barra9 restaurant in Canela. Expected to open in 2026 near the Caracol Falls, the two-story establishment will feature a full restaurant on the upper level and a quick-service operation on the lower level. The group also plans to expand beyond Rio Grande do Sul, targeting an entry into São Paulo by 2027 with its 20Barra9 and 1835 Carne e Brasa brands.
