Brazil hosts cultural initiatives to promote racial diversity

Various cultural and educational initiatives in Brazil are focusing on racial diversity and representation. In Belo Horizonte, the “Luz, Câmera e Resistência” film showcase will take place from August 19 to 21 at the Centro Cultural Venda Nova. The free event features short films such as “Kbela” and “Corpo Preto” to spark discussions on identity, inequality, and the effects of racism in healthcare and society. The screenings will be followed by debates led by specialists in health, history, and political science.

In Hortolândia, a sensory exhibition titled “A representatividade étnico-racial na Educação Infantil: olhares, infância e diversidade” is touring municipal schools. Running from August to November, the exhibition includes photographs of local children, books featuring AI-generated imagery, and resources focused on African and indigenous linguistic origins. The project aims to integrate discussions on diversity and identity into the pedagogical routine for students and their families.
