Brazil hosts eclectic cinema events, from del Toro's Frankenstein screening to AI film showcase

On August 1, the university project “O Eu, o Isso e o Cinema” offered a free screening of Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein (2025)” at the ADunicamp auditorium in Campinas. The event combined the film with psychoanalytic discussion, exploring themes of empathy, alienation and the human inability to accept difference.

A week later, on August 13, the city of Goiânia presented the first “Sintético – Mostra de Filmes de Inteligência Artificial,” a free public program showcasing short films created entirely with artificial‑intelligence tools. Curated by professors and students from the Federal University of Goiás, the showcase included a debate on creative, ethical and legal implications of AI in cinema.

Both events illustrate Brazil’s growing interest in experimental and technology‑driven approaches to film, linking classic literary adaptations with cutting‑edge digital production.
