Brazil's Prêmio Brasil que Alimenta Extends Application Deadline to August 7
The deadline for applications to the Prêmio Brasil que Alimenta has been extended from 31 May to 7 August. The prize recognises social actions that combat hunger, promote food and nutritional security, and guarantee the right to adequate food across Brazil.
Forty initiatives will be awarded in four categories – Community Networks, Solidarity and Social Protection; Production and Supply (agro‑ecology, family farming); Promotion of the Human Right to Adequate Food and Strengthening of the National Food‑Security System; and Social Justice and Equity. The top five in each category receive cash prizes ranging from R$ 20 000 to R$ 50 000, totalling R$ 700 000, while the 6th‑10th places receive honorary certificates.
Eligible organisations must have been operating for at least three years and follow the Brazilian Food Guide. Applications are submitted through the Federal Government’s procurement portal (Gov.br) after registering in the Unified Supplier Registration System (Sicaf) and completing the prize‑specific form.
