Brazil hosts free-run and obstacle races in Nova Friburgo and Rio de Janeiro

The Serra Noroeste Run held its second stage in Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro state, on July 4‑5. Kit distribution took place on Saturday, and a free 5 km adult race was run on Sunday, followed by children’s distances and a prize ceremony. Participants were required to donate one kilogram of non‑perishable food, with the contributions earmarked for local social assistance. Organisers highlighted strong community response, with all 800 registration slots filled quickly and support from municipal officials and local partners.

Separately, Rio de Janeiro will host the Bravus Speed obstacle race on July 26 at the Pedreira Tamoio site in Taquara. The event features a 5 km course with 15 obstacles designed to test speed, strength and agility. It is part of the 2026 “Human Machine” season, with registrations open via the event’s website. Sponsors include Jeep, Banco do Brasil and TNT Sport Drink, and the race is promoted as a test of physical and mental limits for amateur athletes.
