Cuiabá rolls out vaccination drive at Mato Grosso AgroFestival to raise flu coverage

The municipal health department of Cuiabá set up vaccination booths at the first edition of the Mato Grosso AgroFestival, held from 7 to 9 August 2026 in Parque Novo Mato Grosso. The drive offered influenza, COVID‑19 (for people over 12), HPV, trivalent viral and hepatitis B vaccines, aiming to improve flu‑shot uptake that remains far below the Ministry of Health’s 90 % target.

Coverage rates reported on 5 August 2026 were 37.72 % for children aged 6 months to 5 years, 40.13 % for seniors 60 +, and 61 % for pregnant women. The city recorded 2,348 influenza A and B cases between January and July 2026, including 957 infections in children and 172 in seniors, and 14 deaths. The effort is part of the National Multivaccination Campaign, which will culminate on 22 August with a “Dia D” when all 72 Family Health Units in Cuiabá will be open for vaccine updates. Residents can receive the shots by presenting a photo ID or SUS card.
