Brazil hosts maritime infrastructure and defense industry events
The Brazilian Infrastructure Institute (IBI) held Marinha Day in Brasília to facilitate dialogue between the Brazilian Navy, the federal government, and the private sector. The meeting focused on improving waterway infrastructure, navigation safety, and national competitiveness. Discussions covered regulatory issues, international conventions, and the exploitation of waterways and port access channels.
Participants highlighted the economic importance of Brazil's maritime territory, known as the Blue Amazon, which covers approximately 5.7 million square kilometers. This region accounts for over 97% of the country's oil production and 85% of its natural gas. Additionally, roughly 95% of Brazil's foreign trade is conducted via maritime routes.
Separately, the 9th BID Brasil exhibition is scheduled to take place in Brasília from November 24 to 26. Organized by the Brazilian Association of Defense and Security Material Industries (ABIMDE) and co-organized by ApexBrasil, the event showcases advanced national technologies for the armed forces and public security agencies. The exhibition aims to serve both the domestic market and international export opportunities by engaging with the diplomatic corps present in the capital.
