Brazil hosts two new geek conventions in Belém and Jaraguá do Sul

The first edition of Porto Geek took place in Belém on August 8‑9 at the Complexo Porto Futuro, offering free admission and a lineup that included a talk with renowned Brazilian voice actor Guilherme Briggs, known for voicing Buzz Lightyear and other iconic characters. Attendees enjoyed cosplay contests, gaming tournaments, K‑pop performances and a discussion about the game Lendas da Amazônia.

A week later, the city of Jaraguá do Sul welcomed Geekon on August 15‑16 at the Tonin Centro de Eventos. Organizers expected 1,000‑1,500 participants for a two‑day program featuring medieval‑themed activities, live RPG quests, board‑game areas, Pokémon and One Piece TCG tournaments, K‑pop dance workshops, and a major cosplay competition with cash prizes. Both events aimed to bring together fans of pop culture, games, and technology across Brazil.
