Brazil Human Rights Commission approves lottery funding for deaf sports

Brazil's Human Rights Commission (CDH) has approved a proposal to include the Brazilian Deaf Sports Confederation (CBDS) within the National Sports System (Sinesp). The measure, part of Bill 150/2021 authored by Deputy Marcelo Aro, aims to grant the CBDS the status of a private entity with its own organization, placing it alongside the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) and the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB).

The approved text also allocates 0.01% of lottery revenue to the CBDS to ensure stable funding for sports projects serving the deaf community. This funding will be sourced from a corresponding 0.01% reduction in the Ministry of Sports' share. Following a favorable report by Senator Flávio Arns, the project now moves to the Sports Commission (CEsp) for further review.
