Brazil implements climate resilience and emission reduction strategies
In Brazil, various sectors are implementing strategies to address climate change impacts. At the 22nd Papo de Clima event organized by the Brazilian Association of State Sanitation Companies (Aesbe), Cintia Teixeira, Director of Government Products at Caixa Econômica Federal, discussed the bank's role in supporting municipalities and states. The focus is on financing urban infrastructure to increase resilience against extreme weather events, such as floods and landslides, through preventive measures and disaster recovery.
Simultaneously, the municipality of Bonito launched its Climate Action Plan for the 2025–2030 period. Supported by the Mato Grosso do Sul Tourism Foundation (Fundtur-MS), the plan aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per tourist by at least 20% by 2030. This initiative aligns with the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism and the state's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, integrating climate mitigation into the local tourism economy.
