Brazil implements ECA Digital to protect children online
Brazil is implementing the Digital Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA Digital), established by Law No. 15.211/2025. The legislation, which becomes valid on March 17, 2026, aims to enhance digital security, privacy, and parental supervision for minors across platforms, apps, and games.
Key provisions of the decree include prohibiting the monetization of vexatious content, such as sexual exploitation, physical violence, and erotized depictions of children. Additionally, the regulation mandates that guardians of child influencers obtain judicial authorization to profit from their children's content.
In response to these digital challenges, SOMOS Educação is hosting a live educational session on October 19 featuring Judge Vanessa Cavalieri. The event focuses on helping educators and families recognize risks like online harassment and the misuse of artificial intelligence, such as 'deepnude' technology used to create non-consensual sexual imagery of students.
Separately, the influencer Felca, who previously raised awareness regarding the 'adultization' of children online, has announced his return to social media following a seven-month absence.
