Brazil implements major BRT infrastructure and technology upgrades

Public transportation infrastructure is undergoing significant upgrades in two Brazilian regions. In Olinda, Pernambuco, the state government has reopened the Complexo de Salgadinho and Quartel BRT stations following a R$ 11.9 million renovation project. These are the first of nine previously deactivated stations to be returned to service. The improvements include structural repairs, new electrical and hydraulic systems, air conditioning, LED lighting, security cameras, and enhanced accessibility features such as ramps and tactile flooring.

In Goiânia, Mayor Sandro Mabel announced the completion of the metronization of the 17-kilometer North-South BRT axis between the Recanto do Bosque and Isidória terminals. This technology uses intelligent traffic signal priority to increase transit speed and efficiency. With both the North-South and East-West axes now metronized, the city aims to reduce travel times and intersection interruptions, providing more fluid movement for the public transport system.
