Brazil business landscape: Small enterprise growth and procurement shifts

Various developments are shaping the landscape for small and growing businesses in Brazil. The National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and Sebrae have reopened registrations for the 10th 'Pense nas Pequenas Primeiro' seminar, scheduled for September 23, to discuss competitiveness and challenges such as credit access and productivity.

In the realm of public procurement, the implementation of Law No. 14,133/2021 has significantly increased the participation of micro and small enterprises. Digitalization through the National Public Procurement Portal (PNCP) has centralized information, helping small businesses access government contracts, which represent approximately 16% of Brazil's GDP.

On the corporate side, consultancy firm RZ3 has been approved as a Listing Consultant for BEE4, a regulated market focused on helping small and medium enterprises access capital markets. Additionally, a Grant Thornton study highlights that corporate resilience is a key driver of growth, noting that high-growth companies are more likely to treat risk management and governance as strategic investments rather than mere costs.
