Brazil inclusive education spotlight: new book by Alina Rosa da Silva Oliveira and Inclui Perifa conference

Pedagogue Alina Rosa da Silva Oliveira released the book “Para Além do Laudo – O olhar da Neuropsicopedagogia e o resgate do afeto na Educação Infantil” in Betim. The work draws on her school experience and urges teachers, coordinators and families to view children holistically, beyond diagnostic labels, emphasizing affection and inclusive practices.

At the same time, the Inclui Perifa forum, organized by the RAFA network and led by Lis Teodozio, gathered educators, health professionals and families of neurodivergent children to discuss mental‑health and inclusive‑education challenges in Brazil’s peripheral areas. Participants highlighted gaps between legislation and service delivery, noting that of the estimated 2.4 million Brazilians with autism, only 15.5 % receive public therapy. The forum also raised concerns about the lack of racial data for people with Down syndrome, with activist Maria Aline Soares calling for better research representation.
