Deolane Bezerra accused of receiving special treatment in São Paulo prison

The São Paulo Prison Police Union (Sinppenal) says influencer‑lawyer Deolane Bezerra, detained on suspicion of participating in a PCC money‑laundering scheme (Operation Vérnix), was granted privileges during a 14‑hour stay at the Penitenciária Feminina de Santana. The union alleges she was personally received by the prison director, a waiting‑room was emptied for her, she occupied an isolated cell with an iron bed, private hot shower, meals prepared for staff, and restricted access to the area – actions the union says “violam frontalmente o artigo 3º da Lei de Execução Penal”. Sinppenal has asked the Directorate‑General of Penal Police to open an administrative disciplinary proceeding.

The prison administration (SAP) responded that the allocation followed a court decision recognizing her status as a practising lawyer, and that its role was limited to “strict compliance with legal duty and judicial orders”. After the night in Santana, Deolane was transferred to the Penitenciária Feminina de Tupi Paulista, 670 km inland, where she is housed in a special wing for detained lawyers.

In a related development, Deolane refused to hand over passwords for two confiscated cell phones, though investigators say they can still retrieve data. Additional reports note she must remove a mega hair extension and cannot wear piercings while incarcerated. Both facilities are reported as severely overcrowded.
