Brazil influencers warned of deepfakes as another faces gambling fraud lawsuit
Digital influencer Thais Aruna from Acre publicly warned her followers about fake social‑media profiles, financial scams and AI‑generated deepfake images and videos that misuse her likeness. She urged users to report fraudulent accounts and cautioned against clicking suspicious links.
Separately, the Federal Public Ministry in Brazil filed a civil public action against influencer Virgínia Fonseca and the Blaze betting platform, seeking R$120 million in collective moral damages. Prosecutors allege the influencer promoted the gambling site without clear advertising disclosure, exploiting vulnerable bettors during a World Cup match and encouraging risky gambling behavior. The case cites thousands of consumer complaints and claims the promotion amounted to predatory exploitation.
Both incidents highlight growing concerns over influencer‑driven fraud and the legal scrutiny of online promotions in Brazil.
